The Sons of the Wind School of Equestrian Arts offers a diverse selection of European classical dressage experiences for riders of all levels and disciplines. Whether you have not been introduced to classical riding or you are seeking an intensive refinement program, Master Vitor Silva and the staff at Sons of the Wind Farm provides students, from amateur enthusiasts to instructors and competitive riders spanning all disciplines, the opportunity to discover the functionality of classical training.
With an emphasis on safe horsemanship and harmony between horse and rider, Vitor’s training philosophy is rooted in the fundamentals. Vitor and staff teach classical dressage techniques via in-hand work, lunge lessons and work on long lines. For an optimum riding and learning experience, Sons of the Wind Farm offers both 3 and 5-day instructional riding packages.

SINGLE LESSON
—We request that visiting riders be comfortable and confident at the walk, trot, canter and weigh under 175lbs. Research shows horses should not carry more than 15-20% of their weight, tack included. Although we love to share our passion of classical dressage, we must first and foremost be good stewards for our horses. They give us so much, we owe it to them to make sure that we are kind and fair and not asking too much. Please help us do that by respecting our weight policy.
— All reservations require prior, full (non-refundable) payment for confirmation. We are a small, boutique academy dedicated to offering the highest quality lesson program available. We only accept a few riders at a time so once the dates are full, we must move riders to another time frame further in the future. If people cancel their trips, we still must pay our staff as well as feed and care for our horses. This is why all reservations are non-refundable.

— If arriving the day of, you must arrive by 9:00am. If arriving the day before your lessons start, check in time is between 4:00pm-7:00pm.

Our sweet Amaroso is a humble, unsung hero! He is 15.2hh and 19 years old. He teaches many of our lunge lessons as he has great energy and a consistent rhythm. This allows all riders to hone their skills, work on their balance and ensure connectedness to the horse! Amaroso is also a master of tempi changes and piaffe!
This sweet guy is one of the resident schoolmasters at Sons of the Wind. He is 15.2hh, 19 years old and has competed in multiple Grand Prixs. He is best known for his masterful ability to teach riders how to feel and strive for light contact in the bridle. He is incredibly comfortable and has a kind, safe energy.
Desejo is 16hh, 15 years old and is best known for his masterful ability to teach riders how to feel and strive for light contact in the bridle. His steady, rhythmical gates make him a great teacher both on and off the lunge line.
This handsome devil is a 2004, 16hh unicorn...er, we mean stallion. Afago has competed in numerous Young Rider CDIs and AA CDIs with scores up to 74% at PSG and knows all of the Grand Prix movements.
Fronteiro loves to teach our visiting riders. He is 14 years old and stands at 15.2hh. He was imported from Brazil after a successful career there and has continued to help our guests and staff excel at learning classical riding.
This handsome 15.3hh, 15 year old Lusitano gelding has been used extensively in our schoolmaster program for several years. He is a master of piaffe and passage so he affords our guests the ability to get in some serious practice and excels at teaching the collected gaits.
Sir is a 16hh, 15 year old gelding. He is extremely patient and kind to all riders. He is as safe and dependable as they come!
